Life can take many turns. And it's so easy to get caught up in the routine of living that we simply forget to breathe and carry on with this very thing we call...L-I-F-E. Our everyday realities can become beyond overwhelming. From taking care of loved ones, stress, sickness, stress, unemployment, stress, wrong careers, stress, school, stress, kids, stress, and finances----double stress! You name it! The list can get very long. We all have a story and sometimes our days can seem endless in comparison to the resources that we may have to manage our day to day.
What I've come to realize is that the very thing that I should have been doing in those times IS the very thing that could have SAVED me. But it's usually the first thing that gets placed on the chopping block. Our gift is not just a blessing to the world. It can potentially save us from ourselves.
I have given birth twice to two amazing sons. Yet there's a reason that we have someone with us in the delivery room. It's the reason why birthing classes exist to prepare you for what to do when those pains hit! You can have all the intelligence and resources in the world. But there will always be something in life that has the potential to bring you to your knees. And when that time comes, we may or may not connect with what we truly need to do in those moments. When that labor pain came full circle, I could hear my partner say...BREATHE! That's because when things become soOO intense, we tend to forget to do what's naturally best for us to do.
Our gift is not just something we can give to the world. It's our therapy. It's the thing that brings synergy into our own lives. When I write, I feel a sense of relief. Whatever was bothering me doesn't quite have the same effect. It may still exist. But it's not as potent because it's no longer simmering on the inside. It allows me to reconnect with myself in a way that nothing else does. It's a way of escape. It makes sense. It fits who I am. It defines what I'm supposed to be doing. It energizes me. I don't need an "Amen" from someone else to feel better about it. It's not purposed to simply entertain. But if it happens to motivate someone else, I'm humbled by it. And even understanding how it may influence others, I never truly considered how it influenced me.
You may pause, you may have times when things slow down. But never stop operating in your purpose. Identity what it is. Then allow it to be a part of your life that's non-negotiable. When you allow that thing to ACTIVATE in your life, say hello to a brand new world. Then celebrate because that's your real birthday! Live out the best of who you are. And always remember that you are Amazing & Were Created for Greatness!
